India is the second-largest producer and consumer of wheat and prime source of nutrition for most of the Indians.

There is a unique protein found in wheat called Gluten. It can also be found in Barley (aka jau) and Rai ( the one other than mustard seeds).

We often come across many gluten free products , and gluten free life is quite in vogue but it is much beyond just a fancy new trending lifestyle.

If your immune system turns abnormal towards gluten present in wheat, this allergy can be termed as Gluten Allergy /Intolerance or it is also known as Celiac disease.

When a person with a wheat allergy comes into contact with wheat, their body perceives the wheat as a threat. The body sends out antibodies to attack it. This immune response can cause many symptoms, some of which are potentially life-threatening. For understanding gluten can be taken as similar to glue and due to which breads, pasta get their desired shape.

  4. Diarrhea
  5. Unnecessary fatigue

  7. Eye irritation
  8. Trouble breathing

Gluten allergy at its mild stage consists of sensitivity but the serious intolerance features of the body attacking its own tissues taking gluten as foreign substance, this severe intolerance can also cause celiac disease which demands full stop on Gluten consumption.

Who is at Risk from Wheat Allergy/Glutin Intollerence/Celiac Disease?

People are more likely to have a wheat allergy if they come from a family in which allergies to food or other substances are common. You may be more at risk for having gluten allergy or allergy to another food if allergies or allergic diseases such as asthma or eczema run in your family.
